Robert W. "Robbie" Jordan, Jr, 49, of Hampstead, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 4, 2023.  He was the loving husband of Meghan Lancaster-Jordan.

Robbie was born in Abington, PA, to the late Robert W. Jordan, Sr. and Pamela Parola Jordan.

Robbie spent his childhood in Blue Bell, PA then Simpsonville, SC, and was a graduate of Mauldin High School. He briefly attended Brevard College before transferring to Appalachian State University in Boone, NC where he was a member of Pi Lambda Phi fraternity. He used his BS in Industrial Technology to begin his construction career in Raleigh, NC before settling in Ocean Isle Beach, NC where he was mentored by Mr. Ralph McClure. Robbie carried on RH McClure Builders after Mr. Ralph’s passing.

While living in OIB, friends introduced him to the love of his life, Meghan Lancaster. Robbie and Meghan were married October 9, 2013, at Moore Cove Falls in Pisgah National Forest. Robbie and Meghan were residing in Bolivia, NC when they welcomed their children William and Oakleigh. In 2020, Robbie relocated with his family to Hampstead, NC.

Robbie loved living near any body of water where he could go fishing or crabbing. And, of course, enjoy grilling up his catch of the day! Robbie enjoyed any occasion to cook a feast while surrounded by family and friends. Or buying a surprise meal when he saw military or first responders while dining out.

Robbie is survived by his wife, Meghan Lancaster-Jordan and their children, William and Oakleigh, his sister Elizabeth Jordan, and niece Maya Jordan Blevins, aunt Susan Mauro Jordan, cousins Marnie Jordan-Wrona, Peter Lewis and J.W. Douglas Carl Mathews, 48, of Avondale Estates passed away on December 8, 2022 after a long and valiant fight with Type One diabetes.

Doug was born on July 2, 1974 to David F. and Barbara Mathews. After graduating from high school, Doug attended Appalachian State University and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology. While at Appalachian State, Doug joined Phi Lambda Pi and met brothers who became lifelong friends.

During his time in college, he met the love of his life, Rendy Dinovo. After college, Doug and Rendy moved to Rendy’s hometown, Grayson, Georgia. Doug and Rendy got married in Jamaica in 1999 and went on to have their daughter, Catherine Ahana Mathews, in 2006.   Doug was extremely proud of his daughter and firmly believed that she was the smartest, prettiest and most mature child ever born.

Doug was a veteran Biology teacher at Stone Mountain High School, teaching AP Biology, Environmental Science and Freshman Biology. He was a well-loved and valued teacher at the school. Being a High School teacher was one of the most fulfilling career choices Doug could have chosen. He put his all into his students and supported them in ways above and beyond what was expected. His understanding and support of his kids helped some go to college, Law school, Medical school and beyond.

Doug believed strongly that opportunity and understanding should be available for all people, regardless of their skin color, financial position, sexual orientation or religious preferences.   He enjoyed a good meal, intelligent conversation and going on vacation with his family.  A favorite destination was Walt Disney World where he was often chosen to be “that guy” at the Monster’s Inc Laugh Floor.

Doug was predeceased by his father, David F. Mathews and is survived by his beloved wife and daughter, Rendy and Catherine (Mathews); his mother, Barbara (Mathews); his siblings, Kevin and Mandy (Mathews), his nephew, Jayden (Mathews) and his dogs Mena and Merlin.
